For the first time since 2008, the Canadian Construction Documents Committee (CCDC) published a new edition of the CCDC 2 - 2020 Stipulated Price Contract AND a new edition of the CCA 1 -2021 ... so what does this mean for you? Join us for this session to learn about key changes to the new CCA 1 – 2021, how they correspond to the new CCDC 2 – 2020, and how these document changes will impact you and your team.

    • Changes to CCA 1 – 2008 that correspond to the newly released CCDC 2 - 2020, including:
      • Introduction of the term “Ready-for-Takeover”
      • Introduction of the Concept of Payment Legislation
      • Changes to Reimbursable Costs for Change Directives
      • Changes to Insurance 
      • Changes to Indemnity and Waiver of Claims
    • Additional changes to CCA 1 - 2008 including:
      • Additional clarification in Article 2A - Conflict Between the Prime Contract and Subcontract and Article 1B - Work to be Performed
      • Additional Subcontractor requirements for SCC 12.1 - Ready-for-Takeover and 12.2 - Early Occupancy by the Owner
      • Compression of some of the time frames for the Subcontractor to respond
      • Potential extended warranty period
      • Clarifications to SCC 3.5 - Shop Drawings

AUDIENCE:

Anyone who regularly uses CCA 1 and is interested to learn about the recent changes. 

This course is delivered in partnership between your local construction association and other associations throughout Western Canada. You’ll be participating in a cohort with industry peers from across these regions

INSTRUCTOR:

Terry Brown, STBR Consulting Ltd.

Terry was an integral part of Greyback Construction Ltd., as Senior Project Manager for 25 years, leading commercial, industrial, institutional and multi-residential projects. In 2009, he retired from Greyback, to launch STBR Consulting, his own construction consulting and project management company.

With journeyman carpenter accreditation, CCA Gold Seal Professional Certified Project Manager, Certified Director and a B.Sc. from the University of British Columbia among his credentials, Terry continues to contribute this expertise to the industry on a daily basis.

Terry’s current and past volunteer activities include: BCCA and its related associations, WorkSafeBC, the CCA National Gold Seal Committee, the Canadian Construction Document Committee, Pentowna Marina Board of Directors, the Canadian Construction Associations, the Construction Sector Council, the Canadian Design-Build Institute, the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum, among others.

In 2018 Terry was awarded CCA’s Person of the Year and in 2013 he was the recipient of the Queen’s Jubilee Award.

    • This course will involve on-screen interaction with your instructor and classmates, reading/viewing on-screen content (slides or videos), and interacting via typing with questions or responses. For this reason, cell-phones or tablets may not be adequate.

  2. Webcam – in order to engage and collaborate, participants will be expected to have their webcams on for the duration of the class
  3. Microphone
  4. Internet connection - For best results, you will want to ensure you have an internet connection with an upload/download speed of 3-5 Mbps. You can test your internet speed here. Minimum recommended speed is 1.5 Mbps, but anything below 3 Mbps may result in loss of quality or buffering. Ideally hardwired connection versus wireless for stability - connect your computer directly to your router using an ethernet cable, rather than using your home wi-fi.
  5. A quiet space with minimal distractions - microphone will be engaged for interactive sessions. Please plan to be fully engaged in the class and clear your work schedule just as you would for the in-class program.  
  6. Comfortable chair

If VRCA has to postpone or cancel courses due to insufficient enrolment, VRCA will refund the registration fee or, if possible, the attendee may choose to move to an identical session in the future.
