COVID-19 Update No. 4 – VRCA office closed until further notice

Dear member,

I appreciate your continued understanding and support as we collectively navigate the evolving global impact of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). During these extraordinary times, the safety of our families, co-workers and communities is our No. 1 priority.

In response to all governments’ increasing calls to limit non-essential interactions, VRCA has decided to close its office effective 1 p.m. today, Monday, March 23. I am writing to convey this significant change to you directly before we update our COVID-19 web page.

We appreciate this decision affects several services your company may count on. Therefore, I want to provide you with the following updates:

  • CCDC seals – already purchased – Seals that have already been purchased and are awaiting pickup will be mailed out today.
  • CCDC seals – future purchases - Please continue to order seals online through the VRCA store. All orders will be fulfilled and mailed out every Wednesday.
  • Commissioner of Oaths services – VRCA is suspending its Commissioner of Oaths services (statutory declarations) until further notice.
  • Printing and scanning services – VRCA is suspending these services until further notice.

For further clarity:

  • VRCA education courses and events – All such activities are being handled as we described in our email to members on March 13. Online events and meetings will proceed as scheduled.
  • VRCA staff – Effective today, all VRCA staff will be working remotely and will continue to be available via their regular phone numbers and emails.

We know these are challenging times for everyone. Yesterday, the provincial government released additional safety guidance for construction companies to manage their sites during COVID-19. All companies and their employees must read and abide by these rules effective immediately in order to reduce the spread of this virus.

As individuals, we can each do our part by washing our hands often, by practicing “social distancing” and by staying home when sick. If you require guidance on whether you need further assessment or testing for COVID-19, please see the Ministry of Health self-assessment tool.

If you have questions regarding the above, please call me at 604.293.6585 or David Weir, Manager, Industry and Government Relations at 604.293.6589.

Regards,

Fiona Famulak
President
