COVID-19 Update No. 2 - VRCA's operational changes

Dear member,

I appreciate your continued support as we collectively navigate the impact of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19). During these extraordinary times, the safety of our members, colleagues and the greater community is our No. 1 priority.

In response to recent public health announcements, effective March 18:

  • VRCA’s office will continue to be open 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday-Friday, however, minimally staffed to process essential business, including statutory declarations; and
  • The balance of VRCA’s staff will work remotely to minimize the risk of spreading the virus.

All staff will continue to be available via their regular phone number and email.

In addition, we have received a number of questions from our members about the various orders handed down by B.C.’s provincial health officer. VRCA is working with its industry partners to get clarity on those orders, their applicability to construction sites and impact on contractual obligations. We will provide that clarity to members as soon as it becomes available.

Meantime, each of us can help slow the spread of this virus by washing our hands often, by practicing “social distancing” and by staying home when sick. If you require guidance on whether you need further assessment or testing for COVID-19, please see the Ministry of Health self-assessment tool launched earlier today.

If you have questions regarding the above, please call David Weir, Manager, Industry and Government Relations at 604.293.6589.

Regards,

Fiona Famulak
President
