Train the Safety Trainer

This one-day course is designed to assist participants to plan and deliver safety training. Ideas and strategies are presented that will provide participants with a basis for making sound decisions in their training settings. The emphasis in this course is on the development of practical skills that they can take back and use in the classroom or in their work setting.

Format: One day (6.5 hours) of in-class instruction. This course uses a simulation format. Participants will be asked to deliver one short lesson (mini-lesson). In addition, they will be asked to participate as a learner during the lessons that are taught by their colleagues. Each of the simulated lessons will last approximately 10-15 minutes. As the learner during others’ presentations, they will complete a feedback form and then take part in a brief wrap-up session during which the “learners” and “instructor” of that lesson share their insights and suggestions.

  • Design a training session and use media in instruction
  • Conduct a lively interactive training session 
  • Select appropriate instructional strategies and learning activities
  • Use effective visual materials
  • Deliver instruction in a supportive environment

AUDIENCE:

This course is designed for supervisors, safety officers and managers.

INSTRUCTORS:

BC Construction Safety Alliance, The BC Construction Safety Alliance is a not-for-profit association that provides services to over 40,000 construction companies employing over 180,000 workers. They are funded by construction, plus select aggregate and ready-mixed industry who pay for them through a portion of their WorkSafeBC annual assessments.

STUDENT FEE:

$100 Fee Includes: Student manual, digital certificate upon completion, complimentary Wi-Fi access.

No Cost Training Policy:

If your employer belongs to construction sector 72, or has the classification unit (CU) number 704008, or CU 712033 then you are eligible for FREE training in BC for this course. Simply enter your valid CU number on the registration form.  A deposit is charged upon registration and released upon successful completion of the course. CREDITS:

This course has been approved by BC Housing Licensing and Consumer Services (formerly Homeowners Protection Office) for six and a half (6.5) Group A points towards Continued  Professional Development (CPD) for in-class attendance.
