Registered students will receive login information from the instructor in advance of the class. 

Learn to streamline project tracking. Create the As-Builts’ as you go along and reap the benefits of an improved PM process. Enable better communications between managers, site and subs. Have accurate records of what is going on onsite at all times. Be able to anticipate the effects of changes. Use the tools in MS Project to easily communicate these changes. Produce the reports and graphs at the press of a button.

Objectives:

  1. Use MS Project for better communication with site, trades, within your company and with customers.
  2. Transfer your years of experience and the information you have to new hires.
  3. Standardize Project Plans to facilitate communication and make project documents and Gantt Charts easier to read.
  4. Create a Master Template to streamline the project planning and project tracking processes.
  5. Industry best practises for tracking of projects. Save time by creating As-Builts’ as you go along. At the end of the project and in the event of claims or disputes, the records are complete.
  6. Change Management and documentation of change orders.
  7. Resource Management – Equipment, Subcontractors, Trades, Crews – creating updated work calendars.
  8. Creating 2 and 4 week ‘Look-Ahead’ reports and check lists for site supervisors.
  9. Using early warning systems such as Earned Value, Cash Flow and other costing reports to identify problems early in the process to get the project back on track.

PRE-REQUISITE: MS Project for Construction or Intermediate User of MS Project.

AUDIENCE: For the PM, estimator, site super, who has used MS Project.

This course is delivered in partnership between your local construction association and other associations throughout Western Canada. You’ll be participating in a cohort with industry peers from across these regions

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. Computer or laptop
    • This course will involve on-screen interaction with your instructor and classmates, reading/viewing on-screen content (slides or videos), and interacting via typing with questions or responses. For this reason, cell-phones or tablets will not be adequate.
    • As this is a hands-on webinar, participants should have Microsoft Project load on a Microsoft Windows computer.  Microsoft Project is not available for macOS.  
    • If possible, students should have two (2) Monitors available – one for their MS Project work and one for the instructor’s screen.
  2. Webcam – in order to engage and collaborate, participants will be expected to have their webcams on for the duration of the class
  3. Microphone
  4. Internet connection
  5. A quiet space with minimal distractions - microphone will be engaged for interactive sessions. Please plan to be fully engaged in the class, and clear your work schedule just as you would for the in-class program.  
  6. Comfortable chair 

INSTRUCTORS:

Anne Leroux, P.Eng. is a founding partner of ES Computer Training and Technologies, ESCTT Inc. A graduate of the University of Waterloo, Anne is a professional engineer with over 25 years experience in construction, engineering and project management.  Anne possesses prolific experience in the field and as a consultant. She has been responsible for the development and implementation of numerous software programs used in the construction and architectural industries.   Established in 1992, ESCTT Inc. provides computer infrastructure services to businesses in various industry verticals. Products/ventures have included risk management software for construction, business intelligence software, thin client data systems and distributed workforce software.

Greg Leroux has been a leading financial strategist, consultant and instructor to the construction industry since 2008, Greg Leroux has become an authority on getting construction firms to maximize their productivity through the use of information technology.  Greg is not only an expert with standard construction software, but has been a key developer of the Risk Managment application - RiskMP.  Greg has worked closely with construction companies throughout Canada, lending his practical, results-driven approach to ensure success.

This course has been accredited by the Canadian Construction Association (CCA) for one (1) credit towards Gold Seal certification for in-class attendance.

Cancellation & Substitution Policy: Payment is non-refundable for cancellations made within 7 business days of the course, or non-attendance on the day. Transfer to another date is not accepted. Complimentary substitution of another member of your company is accepted. 

If VRCA has to postpone or cancel courses due to insufficient enrolment, VRCA will refund the registration fee or, if possible, the attendee may choose to move to an identical session in the future.
